Impact Kenneth Gainwell got the start Thursday with Saquon Barkley resting, suggesting that Gainwell remains in the pole position for the top backup spot over Shipley. Impact Pickett played the entire first half as Jalen Hurts once again got the night off. The former Pittsburgh quarterback was content checking the ball down and led the offense to only three points, though he didn't have top skill players such as A.J. Impact Smith has yet to appear in the 2024 preseason, which is also the case for Philadelphia's other key skill players. After signing a three-year, $75 million extension in April, Smith will look to build on a strong first three NFL regular seasons, in which he averaged 1,059 receiving yards and 6.3 TDs per year. If Smith plays in the preseason finale against the Vikings on Aug. 24, it likely won't be for more than a few drives.
