Teair Tart - Joining Chargers Tart is set to sign with the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Impact Tart was released by Miami on Tuesday but didn't have to wait long to find a new organization. The veteran nose tackle played in 13 regular-season contests between Houston and Tennessee last year, totaling 24 tackles (17 solo), including one sack. He should have a role in the Chargers' defensive-line rotation when the regular season rolls around.

Ladd McConkey - Expected to play Saturday After not playing in the Chargers' preseason opener, McConkey (undisclosed) is expected to play in Saturday's exhibition against the Cowboys, Gavino Borquez of USA Today reports.
Impact McConkey dressed but didn't play last week, but that's expected to change this weekend after the rookie returned to full practice this week. McConkey is expected to handle a starting role for the Chargers in 2024, but Joshua Palmer, DJ Chark and Quentin Johnston are also in the mix for snaps.

Justin Herbert - Out of walking boot Herbert worked out in the weight room without a walking boot while the Chargers practiced Thursday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Impact Herbert was expected to require the walking boot for about two weeks as he tended to a plantar fascia injury, and he reached the two-week mark Thursday, so he's seemingly on course in his recovery. There's also an expectation that he'll be ready for a Week 1 matchup with the Raiders, meaning his next notable step will be getting back on the practice field in some capacity. While Herbert continues his rehab, the Chargers will entrust the offense in Easton Stick, a 2019 fifth-round pick with 175 passes in six games on his NFL resume.

Hayden Hurst - Doesn't bring in lone target Hurst did not catch his lone reception in Saturday's 16-3 preseason loss against the Seahawks.
Impact Backup quarterback Easton Stick threw a woefully errant first-half pass to Hurst, who valiantly tried to make a stupendous catch only to be decimated by an incoming defender, popping the ball up in the air for an interception. The veteran did linger on the ground for a bit after the play, but was able to jog off on his own. Hurst is expected to work in tandem with fellow free-agent addition Will Dissly to operate as a multi-faceted platoon tight end group with the 6-foot-8 Donald Parham also mixing in on occasion.

Impact It's not clear why the coaching staff decided to have Vidal, and 2024 second-round pick Ladd McConkey (lower body), participate in pre-game warmups, but then not have either player in uniform during the game. Given the Chargers' offensive struggles, particularly on the ground (50 yards on 15 designed carries), it's entirely possible Vidal could see substantial playing time in the coming weeks, but it's also worth noting Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins were also held out of the preseason opener despite zero health concerns to date.
