INJURIES

Shaky vs. Oakland Quintana didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the A's, allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out one.
Impact Quintana struggled for most of Thursday's outing, though he'd manage to hold Oakland scoreless through three innings, despite loading the bases twice. However, the A's made the left-hander pay in the fourth, when JJ Bleday launched a grand slam following a pair of two-out walks. It's the third time in five starts that Quintana's issued four or more walks -- he's now allowed 12 runs over 15.2 innings in his last three outings. Overall, Quintana is 6-8 on the year with a 4.26 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 103:50 K:BB across 129 innings. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, currently lined up for next week at home versus the Orioles.

Strikes out eight in loss Quintana (6-8) allowed five runs on four hits and two walks while striking out eight over 6.2 innings, taking the loss versus the Mariners on Friday.
Impact Quintana was stuck with the loss for the third time in five starts. This was the second time in that span he's given up at least five runs, something he's done just four times all season. The veteran southpaw is up to a 4.10 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 102:46 K:BB through 125 innings over 23 starts this year. He's projected for a favorable home start versus the Athletics in his next outing.

Takes seventh loss Quintana (6-7) allowed three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out four over five innings to take the loss versus the Angels on Sunday.
Impact Neither Quintana nor opposing starter Griffin Canning had great control Sunday, but the Angels were able to get more done. A wild pitch allowed one run to score, and the other two runs on Quintana's line came via sacrifice flies. Control issues have been a an off-and-on thing for the southpaw recently -- he has issued three-plus walks in four of his last seven starts, though he's given up more than two runs just twice in that span. The 35-year-old is now at a 3.95 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 94:44 K:BB through 118.1 innings over 22 starts this season. Quintana's next start is projected to be at Seattle.

Cruises to sixth victory Quintana (6-6) picked up the win Monday against Minnesota, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out five.
Impact The veteran southpaw collected his eighth quality start of the season with this solid 97-pitch performance. Quintana appeared to be in for a rough evening, as he opened by allowing a leadoff double to Manuel Margot and run-scoring single to Byron Buxton. However, that wound up being the only run he surrendered, as the 35-year-old closed out July with a dazzling 2.05 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in 30.2 innings across five starts. Quintana is scheduled to make his August first start against a former team, the Angels, on the road this weekend.

Nabs win despite control issues Quintana (5-6) picked up the win in Tuesday's 3-2 victory over the Yankees, allowing one run on three hits and five walks over five innings. He struck out six.
Impact The veteran lefty managed to get only 50 of his 94 pitches over the plate, but Quintana's wildness may have helped him avoid hard contact aside from a solo homer by Gleyber Torres. Quintana has given up two runs or less in six of his last seven outings, posting a 1.98 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 41:16 K:BB through 41 innings over that stretch. He lines up to make his next start at home this weekend against Atlanta.

Impact Manager Carlos Mendoza said Quintana is currently dealing with a fever, so he'll stay away from the team for the next few days and will take the hill for the Mets' fifth game out of the All-star break, assuming his condition doesn't take a turn for the worse. Luis Severino will now start Saturday in Quintana's stead, followed by Christian Scott on Sunday and then David Peterson for Monday's series finale in Miami.

Next start pushed back Quintana won't start as scheduled Saturday versus the Marlins due to an illness, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Impact Manager Carlos Mendoza said Quintana is currently dealing with a fever, so David Peterson will move up a few slots in the Mets' rotation to start Saturday instead. Peterson had originally been slated to start Tuesday's game against the Yankees, which will now belong to Quintana if he's feeling better by then.

Rocked by Colorado Quintana (4-6) took the loss Sunday against the Rockies, allowing five runs on six hits and a walk across 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.
Impact Quintana surrendered four home runs Sunday, the most he's allowed in a start in his career. Luckily for the left-hander, three of the long balls occurred with no runners on base, with Ezequiel Tovar's two-run homer in the first inning being the only non-solo shot. The outing was Quintana's first real hiccup in a month, as he racked up a 0.89 ERA and 27 strikeouts across his last five starts (30.1 innings) and had thrown 14 consecutive scoreless innings leading up to Sunday's start. Quintana enters the All-Star break with a 3.91 ERA with a 71:33 K:BB across 96.2 innings.

Blanks Nats for fourth win Quintana (4-5) picked up the win in Tuesday's 7-5 victory over the Nationals, allowing only one hit and one walk over seven scoreless innings. He struck out five.
Impact The veteran southpaw will be checking the calendar to see when he can face Washington again -- in back-to-back starts against the Mets' NL East foe, Quintana has spun 14 innings without giving up a run. The stingy performances have lowered his ERA on the season to 3.91, the first time it's been below 4.00 since late April. Quintana lines up for one more outing before the All-Star break during a home series against the Rockies this weekend.
