Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen - Receives five-year contract Luukkonen signed a five-year, $23.75 million contract with the Sabres on Wednesday.
Impact Luukkonen was slated for an arbitration hearing, but the two sides were able to reach an agreement on their own. The 25-year-old netminder had a breakout 2023-24, going 27-22-4 with a 2.57 GAA and a .910 save percentage in 54 contests. While the Sabres also have Devon Levi around, Luukkonen appears set to be the team's No. 1 goalie for a majority of the remainder of this decade.

Beck Malenstyn - Secures two-year pact Malenstyn and the Sabres agreed to terms on a two-year, $2.7 million contract Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Impact Malenstyn was brought in via trade by Buffalo from Washington before the 2024 NHL Draft but needed to agree to new terms as a restricted free agent. Last season, the 26-year-old natural center saw action in 81 games for the Caps in which he generated six goals and 15 assists, all career bests. He figures to slot into a bottom-six role for the Sabres this year and likely has a ceiling in the 25-30-point range.

Linus Weissbach - Returning to Sweden Weissbach signed a two-year contract with Frolunda HC in the SHL on Saturday.
Impact Weissbach, a seventh-round pick of the Sabres in 2017, tallied 16 goals and 33 points with AHL Rochester last season. At 26 years old, it seems unlikely that Weissbach would return to play in North America.

Tyler Tullio - Getting change of scenery Tullio was acquired by the Sabres from the Oilers along with Ryan McLeod on Friday in exchange for Matthew Savoie, per Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton.
Impact Tullio had nine goals and 21 points in 54 regular-season contests with AHL Bakersfield in 2023-24. Edmonton took him with the No. 126 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. Tullio will likely start the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

Ryan McLeod - Involved in trade McLeod was acquired by the Sabres from the Oilers along with Tyler Tullio on Friday in exchange for Matthew Savoie, according to Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton.
Impact Edmonton was presumably looking to clear McLeod's $2.1 million cap hit for the 2024-25 campaign despite the 24-year-old holding his own last campaign. McLeod had 12 goals and 30 points across 81 regular-season contests, but he was likely to be relegated to the fourth line for 2024-25 after Edmonton re-signed Adam Henrique and brought in free agents Viktor Arvidsson and Jeff Skinner. McLeod might earn a role on Buffalo's third unit.
